Book Synopsis Multiparameter Equations of State by : Roland Span
Download or read book Multiparameter Equations of State written by Roland Span and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 384 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As a basis for printed property charts and tables, empirical multiparameter equa tions of state have been the most important source of accurate thermodynamic property data for more than 30 years now. However, due to increasing demands on the accuracy of thermodynamic property data in computerised calculations as well as the availability of appropriate software tools, and the ever increasing computer power, such formulations are nowadays becoming a valuable tool for everyday work. This development has substantially increased the number of scientists, engi neers, and students who are working with empirical multiparameter equations of state, and it continues to do so. Nevertheless, common knowledge on this kind of thermodynamic property models and on the ongoing progress in this scientific discipline is still very limited. Multiparameter equations of state do not belong to the topics which are taught intensively in thermodynamic courses in engineering and natural sciences and the books and articles where they are published mainly deal with the thermodynamic properties of certain substances rather than with the theoretical background of the used equations of state. In contrast to this, my concern mainly was to give a survey of the theoretical background of multiparameter equations of state both with regard to their application and their development.
Book Synopsis Application of New Methods for the Determination of an Equation of State for Mixtures to the Nitrogen-argon-oxygen System and Air by : Richard T. Jacobsen
Download or read book Application of New Methods for the Determination of an Equation of State for Mixtures to the Nitrogen-argon-oxygen System and Air written by Richard T. Jacobsen and published by . This book was released on 1989 with total page 206 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The objectives of this research was to develop new equations of state for binary and ternary mixtures of the N2-Ar-O2 system that are applicable for wide ranges of mixture composition The resulting equations and tables of properties will be used in commercial applications such as air separation and liquefaction. Prior methods for the calculation of mixture properties were reviewed and used as a basis for the formulation presented here. Extended corresponding states (ECS) methods were investigated for both binary and ternary mixtures of nitrogen, argon and oxygen. The accurate fundamental equations for the pure substance constituents developed previously in the Center for Applied Thermodynamic Studies were used in this research. All thermodynamic properties of the mixture are calculated using analytical derivatives of the extended corresponding states model developed in this work. Temperature dependent binary interaction parameters were optimized using thermodynamic data for N2-O2, N2-Ar, and O2-Ar mixtures. A new property calculation package has been designed to facilitate calculation of required thermodynamic properties of nitrogen-argon-oxygen mixtures such as enthalpy, internal energy, entropy, heat capacities, and velocity of sound."--Leaf i.

This book was released on 2019-05-31 with total page 182 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Abstract: A solution of groups technique was developed for use with fluctuation solution theory. The general expressions for calculation of pressure and chemical potential changes from some fixed reference states have been shown. A new corresponding states theory correlation for direct correlation function integrals was proposed and used with the group contribution technique for calculation of pressure changes during compression for several n-alkanes and methanol. This work gives a detailed analysis of the RISM theory of liquids. Shown are new results for perturbation theory and a generalized compressibility theorem for RISM fluids. The use of the RISM theory for calculation of thermodynamic properties of real fluids also is given. The use of hard sphere reference fluids for development of equations of state has been explored. A generalized hard sphere equation of state was developed. It was shown that the most accurate hard sphere equation of state is not the best reference system for construction of a liquid phase equation of state of the van der Waals form. Book Synopsis Thermodynamic Properties of Cryogenic Fluids by : Jacob W. Leachman
Download or read book Thermodynamic Properties of Cryogenic Fluids written by Jacob W. Leachman and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-07-30 with total page 220 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This update to a classic reference text provides practising engineers and scientists with accurate thermophysical property data for cryogenic fluids. The equations for fifteen important cryogenic fluids are presented in a basic format, accompanied by pressure-enthalpy and temperature-entropy charts and tables of thermodynamic properties. It begins with a chapter introducing the thermodynamic relations and functional forms for equations of state, and goes on to describe the requirements for thermodynamic property formulations, needed for the complete definition of the thermodynamic properties of a fluid. The core of the book comprises extensive data tables and charts for the most commonly-encountered cryogenic fluids. This new edition sees significant updates to the data presented for air, argon, carbon monoxide, deuterium, ethane, helium, hydrogen, krypton, nitrogen and xenon. The book supports and complements NIST’s REFPROP - an interactive database and tool for the calculation of thermodynamic properties of cryogenic fluids.

Download or read book Supercritical Fluids written by E. Kiran and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 775 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Supercritical fluids which are neither gas nor liquid, but can be compressed gradually from low to high density, are gaining increasing importance as tunable solvents and reaction media in the chemical process industry. By adjusting the pressure, or more strictly the density, the properties of these fluids are customized and manipulated for the particular process at hand, be it a physical transformation, such as separation or solvation, or a chemical transformation, such as a reaction or reactive extraction. Supercritical fluids, however, differ from both gases and liquids in many respects. In order to properly understand and describe their properties, it is necessary to know the implications of their nearness to criticality, to be aware of the complex types of phase separation (including solid phases) that occur when the components of the fluid mixture are very different from each other, and to develop theories that can cope with the large differences in molecular size and shape of the supercritical solvent and the solutes that are present.
