My research centered around the purpose and positive qualities of effective assignments as well as appropriate strategies for teaching rhythm to beginning students. The end result was the creation of the rhythm workbook. It contains a variety of strategies for teaching rhythm to the beginning band student. It also has built-in technology-assisted assessment features to gauge student learning in the area of rhythm.
