Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Poetry of Spiritual Awakening presents a collection of poetry arranged in three groupings designed to indicate levels of conscious awareness experienced by author Hilton L. Anderson. Waking up spiritually is an individual process; even so, there are common themes experienced by many people that may help others in their own spiritual journey. In general terms, the separate ego state is focused primarily on the external reality while the spiritual is more focused on internal consciousness. Perhaps another way of explaining this spiritual awakening is recognizing the shift from the rational mind to heart consciousness. The way in which the poems of this collection are arranged is an attempt to make this shift obvious. Through the practice of forgiveness and the awareness of love, the separate self of the ego begins to lose its hold, allowing the awareness of the larger self to become the focus of attention. This awareness heals the separation of self from others and the Divine. Ultimately the awareness of the unitary nature of existence becomes known. The fear of death and its resolution are prominent concerns of many of the poems. The need to face the reality of death and understand it in a meaningful way is one of the basic learning explored by the poetry.

Robbie describes many of the miraculous healings she witnessed while working with Gary in his Aboriginal-inspired healing practice. She details the powers that Gary developed after his transformative time being healed by Aborigines, including telepathy, seeing the inner workings of his patients’ bodies, and channeling the healing energy of the universe. She discloses how Gary accessed the Dreamtime, the energy field that is the source of reality, and reveals how her work with Gary led her to an invitation to participate in secret Aboriginal women’s ceremonies in the harsh Outback desert, where her own healing powers blossomed. Through her story of healing and discovery, Robbie describes principles from the 60,000-year-old Aboriginal culture that can help create transformation in your life. She explains how she became aware of her team of spirit guides, who provide unwavering support and unconditional love through each of life’s struggles. She shares the tenderness of her husband’s final moments and how she worked past her grief to transform her relationship with him, enabling him to become an active, loving part of her spirit team and partner in her healing work.

Book excerpt: Despite severe diabetes, Russell Ogg was a successful photographer who traveled worldwide with his wife, journalist Norma Lee Browning. He's always been able to cope with anything, but when diabetes began to rob him of his sight, "it was like a violinist losing his fingers." When Norma Lee saw him sitting day after day on the patio of their home in Palm Springs, slumped in despair, his sightless eyes fixed on nothing, she too became depressed. But a miracle was about to happen. Then suddenly a red hummingbird appeared that changed their lives. Norma Lee frankly describes her doubts and the errors she made in identifying the birds her husband tried to photograph. She also concludes, from her close observation of the hummers, that "the experts" are wrong on many counts. But the miracle that provides the heart-warming conclusion to this unusual story involves Russell Ogg's eyesight. His sight improved. His eye doctor said he saw better than it was possible for him to see. "There is no way to explain medically how he does it ... his photographs tell us something about the magnificence of man." His inspiring story is a testament to human courage and hope.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Selva Maya (Jungle of the Maya) is one of the world's most magical yet least appreciated places—an enormous tropical forest that encompasses much of Belize, Guatemala, and Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula. At 9,000,000 acres, it is the largest contiguous tropical forest north of the Amazon in the Western Hemisphere. Within its borders, the Selva Maya provides habitat for an astonishing diversity of plants and animals—more than 500 species of birds alone. The forest also contains the fascinating ruins of ancient Maya cities, which attract visitors and researchers from all over the globe. Jungle of the Maya presents a stunning photographic portrait of this irreplaceable natural treasure. Nature photographers Douglas Goodell and Jerry Barrack capture the living wonders of the jungle—jaguars and other cats; spider and howler monkeys; hummingbirds and butterflies; and snakes, amphibians, and insects—as well as the region's hallmark Maya sites, including Tikal, Chichen Itza, Uxmal, and Tulum. Environmental writer Jim Wright invitingly describes the Selva Maya's natural and human history, helping visitors and residents appreciate the riches to be found in the forest and the need to protect and preserve them for generations to come. Because human activities are encroaching more and more on the Mayan forest, Jungle of the Maya is a beautiful book with a timely message. As renowned naturalist Archie Carr III sums it up in his foreword, "Today, the Selva Maya is at risk again. As modern beings, can we manage the forest better than we believe the ancient Maya did? We should. We have the archaeological record to draw from. We have modern science. And we still have inspiration whispered to us by spirits in the great plazas of Tikal and beyond. Turn the pages, and witness."

Book excerpt: One day in June, two young people apply for a job in a mysterious building on the “billionaire’s row” of 57th Street in New York City. Unlike the other skyscrapers on the street, 211A West 57th is a self-contained universe built for single family, who are unknown to most of its inhabitants. There are schools, farms, restaurants, libraries, theaters, a hospital, industries, high, middle and low-income apartments, laboratories, gyms, markets, chapels, its own post office, a bank and 15 forbidden floors, off-limits to the residents. It is a world fueled by gossip, animated by scandal and powered by an unseen force. The building is capped by a glass dome enclosing a magnificent aviary, filled with exotic birds, including a world-renowned collection of hummingbirds. On the day the new employees are hired, the aviary is in turmoil. A rare hummingbird has gone missing. The two find themselves swept up in the search and caught in a flood of events that almost destroys the building, revealing its deepest secrets and threatening the lives of everyone inside.
