The right is founded upon an unvarying custom time immemorial, undenied and uninterrupted, and consequently cannot now be shaken. A little further on the Western cliffs are rocks which overhang a small arenaceous recess, called Splat-cove, the general place of resort for Splat-cove. water-parties of pleasure to laud and take such refreshment as they bring with them. The Crithmum Maritimum, the true sea or rock Samphire for SamPliii'e pickling, grows abundantly in the crevices of these cliffs, and around the coast in general.
