All subjects were in their first semester of high school concert band (ninth or tenth grade). Subjects were administered a researcher designed Pitch Discrimination Test (PDT) three times. The PDT included 36 pairs of pre-recorded tones presented by oboe, clarinet, and tuba in deviations of 5, 10, and 15 cents in both flat and sharp directions. Subjects indicated whether the second tone in each pair sounded higher or lower in musical pitch.
