About the authors Dr. N. Manikanda Boopathi is working at CPMB, TNAU, Coimbatore, India as Assistant Professor. He handled more than 20 courses in biotechnology for UG and PG degree programs. He has well experienced hands on molecular markers and QTL mapping of drought resistance traits in rice and presently involved in development of cotton for drought resistance and superior fiber quality traits using systems quantitative genetics. He had presented his research papers in several national and international symposia / workshops and honored best presentation and researcher awards. His research findings were published in peer reviewed scientific journals (https://sites.google.com/site/drnmboopathi/). Dr. M. Raveendran is also working at the same centre, as Associate Professor. As a teacher, he is nurturing the UG and PG students in genomics, proteomics and functional genomics and has contributed to devise and teach several advanced courses in biotechnology and bioinformatics at the University. He has delivered lectures at national and international meetings and conferences. As a researcher, with his sole effort, he was able to construct and float a website (www.tnaugenomics.com) for his laboratory which clearly shows his innovativeness and desire to catch up with recent developments in science. He used to take up challenging problems in drought tolerance, nutrigenomics etc. to address through biotechnology.
