Download or read book A Guide for Disciplinary Action written by Thomas G. Soos and published by . This book was released on 1991 with total page 17 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this research project was to create a guide for use by the employee as well as the supervisor when dealing with matters of discipline. The need for such a guide became evident during this past year when the disciplinary process had to be put in motion and an employee terminated. This is the first time in over ten years that an employee had to be terminated from our department. It became apparent that the employees were not aware of their rights and means of recourse. During this process I spent countless hours in meetings or on the phone with the Employee Relations Department to ensure that the measures I was taking were correct. My superiors also requested that they be kept informed of the employees progress and the effects of progressive discipline on the employee.
Book Synopsis The Manager's Guide to Discipline by : Derek Eccleston
Download or read book The Manager's Guide to Discipline written by Derek Eccleston and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-05-15 with total page 125 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For most managers, let alone the employees involved, the disciplinary process can be painful and embarrassing. Poor performance tends to be confused with misconduct and consequently carries the stigma of punishment; this despite the fact that most company policies and indeed the ACAS Code (correctly) put emphasis on improving behaviour or performance, rather than punishment. Derek Eccleston's concise guide provides a clear picture of the purpose and the process of the disciplinary procedure. This toolkit approach contains invaluable information and includes clear checklists and sample letters to help guide managers and supervisors through the minefield of employment rights, explaining what to do and how to do it. Written in a no nonsense way, The Manager's Guide to Discipline is free of legal jargon and focuses on the practical issues throughout. It will help to protect the organisation, whilst ensuring matters are dealt with, not left or brushed under the carpet because of a lack of management confidence. This essential reference will encourage managers to approach performance and disciplinary problems proactively and with more confidence and will significantly reduce the risk of getting it wrong.

Math, history, English and science teachers are passionate about their specialties, and that’s why authors Releah Lent and Marsha Voight designed a framework that keeps teachers’ subjects at the center of daily classroom life while also helping them pool strengths with colleagues.
