And throughout, Jackie will be providing glimpses into the finer points of vegan living, giving readers something to aspire to as they get past Vegan 101. Readers will also find a handful of easy and delicious recipes sprinkled throughout. Book excerpt: I was almost as hard headed as it gets while repeatedly insisting on missing and ignoring the entire point that Mom and a few others tried to get me to realize. GET YOUR EDUCATION!!! I still had some great times here and there every now and then, and I can only imagine how beautiful-my-life-would-have-been if I would have followed the The Golden Rules. Some wonderful things have happened to me even though I still feel that I truly did not deserve or even know how to sincerely enjoy thoroughly, but on the other hand, some not so wonderful things have happened to me that I basically brought on myself as a direct result of not following The Golden Rules. EDUCATION IS A MUST!!! I know my family was not the only family that has gone through a divorce, and I know there are millions of kids who went through divorce without a scratch. I am not blaming any of my failures as a man on the pitfalls of divorce, but I can clearly see now that my character flaws were a direct hit stemming from the casualties of my parents divorce. I did not ask to be me, and I certainly did not ask or expect to be stuck on stupid for almost three tenths of a century. It was what it was! If I would have known their divorce would eventually effect me which I believe set the wheels in motion that turned towards me turning out the way I have, I would have started Praying that night. But I had no idea it would, and neither did they. I can only imagine how beautiful my life would have been if their marriage was meant to be, but it was not about me. Brooke!

Book excerpt: So many diet plans give tremendous details about the physiological processes that make their particular diet successful, but fail to include the psychological elements that are also necessary for adherence to the diet plan. Hence, the goal of this book is to provide you with the life-long mental tool to adhere to your diet plan. During the course of this book, I will point out several marketing techniques that thwart our efforts toward having a balanced daily diet. Then, I will show you how to apply psychological techniques the right way to help you stick to your diet plans and live a healthy lifestyle. This book will help you learn to control the many situations and thoughts, related to eating, that our parents helped to control when we were children. Long after you have read this book, your self-created wristband with the acronym DIET (Do I Eat This?) will help remind you of the psychological eating strategies presented in this book. Wristbands with the acronym, D. I. E. T. "Do I Eat This?" inscribed on them can be purchased for $6.00 each. All proceeds will go to the AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION. Please send cash or a check payable to Dr. Melinda Blackman, Department of Psychology, California State University, Fullerton, CA 92834. Book excerpt: The Letter, is an adventure that starts out in first gear and then immediately shifts into fifth. You'll feel the wind in your hair and the blood racing through your veins. Hold on tight! This latest effort from J.D. Fitzpatrick orders up a new prescription for your glasses so that you can see murder, mystery and the bonds of family in an entirely new light. Follow the events of a young, blue-collar, ex-football star (Jack Dade), as he finds himself looking for some much needed changes within his all too familiar life. Needless to say, one trip to his mailbox will transform who he is, who he will be, and all that he knows forever. Jack couldn't breathe as his chest was roped-tight and his heart pounding. His right hand was shaking and now his eyes began to blur...the text of the letter fading in and out of focus. Jack stood up and went into the kitchen, he stood next to the stove and opened his small, yet fully stocked, liquor cabinet. Jack poured himself a shot of tequila...whoosh, then he poured another. Book excerpt: Clare Marie Edgeman’s journey to Finding F*ck Yes is chocolate cake in an era of paleo diets and the Whole 30: indulgent, sticky, and not diet-culture friendly. From her nerdy teenage years in rural Montana to her empowered late twenties in New York City, this vulnerable memoir is simultaneously hilarious, heartwarming, and painfully, beautifully authentic. Edgeman holds nothing back in this striking debut, as she describes her unconventional and promiscuous path to body positivity—a journey irrevocably tied to her rebellion against the constraints of Type 1 diabetes. Finding F*ck Yes: A Memoir of Orgasms & Insulin is a reflection of our society, a meditation on self-worth, a treatise on how we treat women who love sex, and a challenge of how we view women who are not thin.
