Book excerpt: James Cooper was born 16 September 1789. He married Delilah Simpson, daughter of James Simpson and Sarah Hornbuckle, 31 August 1811 in Caswell County, North Carolina. Her maternal grandmother was Cherokee. They had nine known children. Their son, John Wortham Cooper, was born 18 November 1824 in Alabama. He married Elizabeth McAdams (1829-1865) in 1845. They had ten children. He married Emily Frances Pearce (1842-1917) in 1865. They had eleven children. John died in 1895 in Oklahoma. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in Oklahoma and Texas.
