It is true that in Adam a sort of spiritual paralysis came upon the race. Without Christ there is no evidence that Adam's race could have lived and could have enjoyed even the probation that we enjoy. All orthodox believe that Christ gave himself for the redemption of the world, and extended the benefits of his atonement to the world. He spread the wing of atonement over that infant, that you left at home to-night, and if that child dies before it commits any overt act of sin, it is saved eternally in heaven, by virtue of Christ's death.
