Book Synopsis Broken For A Blessing by : Paul Hillman
Download or read book Broken For A Blessing written by Paul Hillman and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2022-11-03 with total page 84 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: All the trials and broken pieces you went through in life did not come to break you; they only came to make you. Since you did not break down, it is now time for you to break through. Every trials and broken pieces that you went through in life means that they did not come to kill you but to shape you. Whatever does not break you only comes to make you. If you did not break down, this is your time to break through. God is only using your pieces to make up your pages. Every broken piece of your life will make up the pages to your chapter. Someone is trying to make it through the trials and pieces that you already went through. Your trails and pieces will be their guiding tools and the road map that will build the bridge for their crossing over. You were broken not only to be blessed; you were broken to be a blessing to someone's life. There are some people who were lifted to get to the top while there are some who had to climb ropes and rocks to get there. The ones who had to climb understood that life is defined by what you went through and the ways in which you survived. This means that whatever comes to defy you only comes to define who you are on the inside. Your test will be your testimonies, and all the mess that you went through will be used by God for your messages. Jesus was broken as the living bread, broken to save lives. This means your brokenness will bring healing and restoration. For those going through a brokenness, you will be coming out whole. This book is a guideline with tools that will help you in your journey to recovery.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Bible teaches us', Russ Parker writes, 'that blessing is a unique ministry resource gifted to believers to effect the purposes of God in peoples' lives.' In this enthralling book, the author tells of situations of family estrangement, depression and chronic illness; of times of hopelessness and helplessness where miraculous transformation has been wrought through calling on God to bless someone with the richest blessing they are able to receive. As he has travelled the country teaching on the ministry of blessing, Russ has seen an enthusiastic response and uptake, especially amongst those involved in prayer ministry. He believes it is time for all who want to be part of God's renewal - both in church and through reaching out to the wider community - to consider how we might help others to flourish as the people God has called them to be. 'Russ Parker's ground breaking work on healing community history will be so helpful to churches. It has greatly helped me.' The Rt Revd Graeme Dow, former Bishop of Carlisle
Book Synopsis The Blessing of Humility by : Jerry Bridges
Download or read book The Blessing of Humility written by Jerry Bridges and published by Tyndale House Publishers, Inc.. This book was released on 2016 with total page 139 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We all admire humility when we see it. But how do we practice it? How does humility--the foundational virtue of the normal Christian life--become a normal part of our everyday lives? Jerry Bridges sees in the Beatitudes a series of blessings from Jesus, a pattern for humility in action. Starting with poverty in spirit--an acknowledgment that in and of ourselves we are incapable of living holy lives pleasing to God--and proceeding through our mourning over personal sin, our hunger and thirst for righteousness, our experience of persecutions large and small, and more, we discover that humility is itself a blessing: At every turn, God is present to us, giving grace to the humble and lifting us up to blessing.

Book Synopsis Blessing Same-Sex Unions by : Mark D. Jordan
Download or read book Blessing Same-Sex Unions written by Mark D. Jordan and published by University of Chicago Press. This book was released on 2013-09-03 with total page 269 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: At most church weddings, the person presiding over the ritual is not a priest or a pastor, but the wedding planner, followed by the photographer, the florist, and the caterer. And in this day and age, more wedding theology is supplied by Modern Bride magazine or reality television than by any of the Christian treatises on holy matrimony. Indeed, church weddings have strayed long and far from distinctly Christian aspirations. The costumes and gestures might still be right, but the intentions are hardly religious. Why then, asks noted gay commentator Mark D. Jordan, are so many churches vehemently opposed to blessing same-sex unions? In this incisive work, Jordan shows how carefully selected ideals of Christian marriage have come to dominate recent debates over same-sex unions. Opponents of gay marriage, he reveals, too often confuse simplified ideals of matrimony with historical facts. They suppose, for instance, that there has been a stable Christian tradition of marriage across millennia, when in reality Christians have quarreled among themselves for centuries about even the most basic elements of marital theology, authorizing experiments like polygamy and divorce. Jordan also argues that no matter what the courts do, Christian churches will have to decide for themselves whether to bless same-sex unions. No civil compromise can settle the religious questions surrounding gay marriage. And queer Christians, he contends, will have to discover for themselves what they really want out of marriage. If they are not just after legal recognition as a couple or a place at the social table, do they really seek the blessing of God? Or just the garish melodrama of a white wedding? Posing trenchant questions such as these, Blessing Same-Sex Unions will be a must-read for both sides of the debate over gay marriage in America today.

Download or read book Double Blessing written by Mark Batterson and published by Multnomah. This book was released on 2019-10-15 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: God doesn't bless us to raise our standard of living. God blesses us to raise our standard of giving, and that's where true joy is found. The New York Times bestselling author of Chase the Lion challenges us not to settle for half of what God offers when it comes to blessings—we are BLESSED to BLESS. His discovery started with a simple experiment. Whenever Batterson received a blessing, he would give a similar blessing away. If someone paid him a compliment or gave him a gift or went out of their way to help him, he would return the favor by doing something similar for someone else. We flip the blessing by blessing others in the way God has blessed us. That’s how the blessing becomes a double blessing. It turns giving into a game—one we can’t win because God will always outgive us! It’s an ancient truth found within the Abrahamic covenant: “I will bless you . . . and you will be a blessing.” In other words, we are blessed to bless. The first blessing is receiving, but it doesn’t end there. The second blessing is giving it away! That’s the double blessing. And that’s where double joy is found. In a day and age where the idea of blessing has been reduced to a hashtag (#blessed), Batterson challenges readers to pursue true, God-glorifying blessing and experience an exponential impact by participating in the double blessing. Don’t settle for half of what God offers. Discover how you can both get it and give it . . . in Double Blessing.
