Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Writing my two plays, titled A Blessing in Disguise and The Seasons of Life, has inspired me in different ways. I wrote both plays with the intention of demonstrating my songwriting, poetry, and artistic skills. I have learned that even though I have cerebral palsy, there is no end to what I can do. In other words, I never limit myself because I have a physical challenge. I have been blessed with the ability to use my hands and mind to create and inspire. Writing these songs took focus and dedication. I was able to bring some of the characters to life by adding poetry because it shows his or her emotions. I believe everyone has been endowed by God with distinctive characteristics, gifts, and talents in order that he or she may fulfill his or her God-given purpose in life. I enjoy developing my talents. Hopefully, through my hard work and efforts, I will inspire others to pursue his or her dreams. I exercise and keep myself fit. I have always wanted to stand straight and tall on my own, and miraculously, the other day I did. I have a bachelors degree in Creative Writing and a masters degree in English Literature (East Carolina Alumni Class of 2008, Greenville, North Carolina). I continue to strive and keep myself informed of world changes. I also find that it is gratifying to be able to share a talent or a skill with others. My areas of expertise include writing and proofreading. Genres I typically work with include poetry, short stories, fiction, nonfiction, and newsletters. Im the author and editor of the play Blackberry Molasses.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Unique among books about the Wiccan Sabbats, Celebrating the Seasons of Life: Samhain to Ostara takes a different approach to explaining the holidays by taking an in-depth look at half of the Wheel of the Year. Rather than dissecting each holiday, Ashleen's goal is to take a broader look at them, explaining how and why we celebrate each, along with how the celebration of one leads to the next. The first of two new titles from Ashleen offers a vision of the holidays we celebrate from October to March. This book covers each holiday by first giving us its history and original customs, then explaining its place in modern life. Stories are shared for each Sabbat to reconnect us with our lore and bring new meaning to current practice. Ashleen includes ideas for rituals that are ideal for practicing solitaries, covens, or Wiccan families, with special sections on what children of various ages are ready to learn about these holidays.

Book excerpt: God doesn't bless us to raise our standard of living. God blesses us to raise our standard of giving, and that's where true joy is found. The New York Times bestselling author of Chase the Lion challenges us not to settle for half of what God offers when it comes to blessings—we are BLESSED to BLESS. His discovery started with a simple experiment. Whenever Batterson received a blessing, he would give a similar blessing away. If someone paid him a compliment or gave him a gift or went out of their way to help him, he would return the favor by doing something similar for someone else. We flip the blessing by blessing others in the way God has blessed us. That’s how the blessing becomes a double blessing. It turns giving into a game—one we can’t win because God will always outgive us! It’s an ancient truth found within the Abrahamic covenant: “I will bless you . . . and you will be a blessing.” In other words, we are blessed to bless. The first blessing is receiving, but it doesn’t end there. The second blessing is giving it away! That’s the double blessing. And that’s where double joy is found. In a day and age where the idea of blessing has been reduced to a hashtag (#blessed), Batterson challenges readers to pursue true, God-glorifying blessing and experience an exponential impact by participating in the double blessing. Don’t settle for half of what God offers. Discover how you can both get it and give it . . . in Double Blessing.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Blessing In Disguise is the story of a man which contain a message. The story is necessary to show how ordinary a man can be from the start of life, how only the here and now is important. Once his ego surface, not only the here and now are important, but the past and the future becomes essential. The conclusion that ones history is only about four hundred years old leaves him without a foundation, and we only search our past for direction into the future. A four hundred year old past bring the future to an haw. A void appears, the search ends, the ego is deflated, the man is incomplete, an endangered species. The message I received was short and to the point, If you want to know something , read The Bible. The Word, told a story about the history of mankind from the beginning, I only needed to know which man would represent my history, and the choice of the three was not minds. The message was truly a blessing, but one not only for me. I was born again, not only had I discovered a past not known to me but I also discovered a future to one day be granted. To understand who I have become you too must read and study The Word. Until the world acknowledge and accept who I Am, there will be no blessings, no harmony, no peace. We must put a stop to hiding The Word of God before there is nothing left but The Word.

Book excerpt: Find comfort in dark times and grow your trust and faith in God with this inspiring and insightful guide from Lakewood Church pastor and #1 New York Times bestselling author Joel Osteen. All of us will go through dark times that we don't understand: a difficulty with a friend, an unfair situation at work, a financial setback, an unexpected illness, a divorce, or the loss of a loved one. Those types of experiences are part of the human journey. But when we find ourselves in such a place, it's important that we keep a positive perspective. Joel Osteen writes that if we stay in faith and keep a good attitude when we go through challenges, we will not only grow, but we will see how all things work together for our good. Through practical applications and scriptural insight, Blessed in the Darkness focuses on how to draw closer to God and trust Him when life doesn't make sense. If we will go through the dark place in the valley trusting, believing, and knowing that God is still in control, we will come to the table that is already prepared for us, where our cup runs over.

In Toronto, Rebecca follows a trail that begins when Birdie, the schizophrenic homeless woman she is trying to help, is killed. From the German fencing instructor in whose backyard Birdie lived to the Egyptian physician in town to talk up the new drug he is developing from snake venom, nobody is who they appear to be. Strangely, the two men seem to know each other, although neither will say how. Alternating chapters follow a Jewish family, the Eisenbaums, during the Nazi rise to power and the gradual stripping away of the rights of Jews in Germany. The youngest child, Frederika, becomes a doctor against all odds. But as the Nazi grip tightens, she loses the right to practice and is finally sent to a concentration camp. Rebecca’s and Frederika’s stories connect in the startling conclusion.

Book excerpt: “Heartbreaking and uplifting… a searing book about race and prejudice in America… brims with insights that only someone who has lived on both sides of the racial divide could gain.”—Cleveland Plain Dealer “A triumph of storytelling as well as a triumph of spirit.”—Alex Kotlowitz, award-winning author of There Are No Children Here As a child in 1950s segregated Virginia, Gregory Howard Williams grew up believing he was white. But when the family business failed and his parents’ marriage fell apart, Williams discovered that his dark-skinned father, who had been passing as Italian-American, was half black. The family split up, and Greg, his younger brother, and their father moved to Muncie, Indiana, where the young boys learned the truth about their heritage. Overnight, Greg Williams became black. In this extraordinary and powerful memoir, Williams recounts his remarkable journey along the color line and illuminates the contrasts between the black and white worlds: one of privilege, opportunity and comfort, the other of deprivation, repression, and struggle. He tells of the hostility and prejudice he encountered all too often, from both blacks and whites, and the surprising moments of encouragement and acceptance he found from each. Life on the Color Line is a uniquely important book. It is a wonderfully inspiring testament of purpose, perseverance, and human triumph. Winner of the Los Angeles Times Book Prize

Drawn from his personal journal, his observations of the San Francisco Giants' climb to win the 2010 World Series will remind you over and over again how a bunch if ragtag ballplayers became champions of the world against all odds. Interspersed with comments from his notes of twenty years ago as little league coach for his young son Ray's teams, Sutton enhances the importance that baseball has in cementing relationships between father and sons, and some daughters too.
