The aim of this work is to present the main contributions in this field by a bibliometric review approach. The paper employs an extensive range of bibliometric indicators using the Web of Science (WoS) Core Collection and Scopus datasets. The work considers leading journals, articles, authors, institutions countries and patterns. This paper highlights that Xu is the most productive author and Yager is the most influential author in the field. Likewise, China is leading the field with many new researchers who have entered the field in recent years. This discipline has been strengthening to create a unique theory and will continue to expand with many new theoretical developments and applications.

Book excerpt: Neutrosophic set, initiated by Smarandache, is a novel tool to deal with vagueness considering the truth-membership T , indeterminacy-membership I and falsity-membership F satisfying the condition 0 ≤ T + I + F ≤ 3. It can be used to characterize the uncertain information more sufficiently and accurately than intuitionistic fuzzy set. Neutrosophic set has attracted great attention of many scholars that have been extended to new types and these extensions have been used in many areas such as aggregation operators, decision making, image processing, information measures, graph and algebraic structures. Because of such a growth, we present an overview on neutrosophic set with the aim of offering a clear perspective on the different concepts, tools and trends related to their extensions. A total of 137 neutrosophic set publication records from Web of Science are analyzed. Many interesting results with regard to the annual trends, the top players in terms of country level as well as institutional level, the publishing journals, the highly cited papers, and the research landscape are yielded and explained in-depth. The results indicate that some developing economics (such as China, India, Turkey) are quite active in neutrosophic set research. Moreover, the co-authorship analysis of the country and institution, the co-citation analysis of the journal, reference and author, and the co-occurrence analysis of the keywords are presented byVOSviewer software.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In recent years, neutrosophic theory has garnered increasing attention within scholarly circles due to its applicability in various domains. Within these domains, the field of decision-making has derived significant advantages from the progressions in neutrosophic theory. Notably, neutrosophic theory has made substantial contributions by advancing and offering a range of aggregation operators and information measures specifically designed for enhancing decision-making processes. In this context, this study aims to conduct a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of the current research landscape in the field of neutrosophic theory, with a specific focus on understanding its applications and development trends. Our analysis reveals that the scientific literature addresses neutrosophic theory in a diverse range of applications. This examination encompasses a scrutiny of key contributors, affiliated academic institutions, influential publications, and noteworthy journals within the neutrosophic domain. To achieve this, we have curated a dataset comprising scholarly papers retrieved from Clarivate Analytics’ Web of Science Core Collection database, employing keywords closely aligned with neutrosophic theory and its applications, spanning a specified timeframe starting from the year in which the first paper on neutrosophic theory was published, namely, from 2005 until 2022. Our findings underscore sustained and robust scholarly interest in neutrosophic theory, characterized by a considerable high annual growth rate of 43.74% during the specified period. Additionally, our investigation delves into the identification and analysis of pivotal keywords and emerging trends, shedding light on prominent research trajectories within this domain. Furthermore, we elucidate collaborative networks among authors, their academic affiliations, and the global distribution across diverse countries and territories, providing valuable insights into the worldwide proliferation of neutrosophic research and applications. Employing n-gram analysis techniques across titles, keywords, abstracts, and keyword-plus fields unveils a multitude of applications where neutrosophic theory plays a central role. The analysis culminates in a review of globally cited documents and a comprehensive discussion highlighting the significance of neutrosophic theory in contemporary research and problem-solving contexts.

Book excerpt: This book provides recent research on soft computing and fuzzy methodologies in innovation management and sustainability. The uncertainty in the business world is increasing. Significant changes are generated unexpectedly, so using fuzzy logic and soft computing methods allows us to create flexible scenarios adaptable to new realities. Within the book, we will find different applications of fuzzy methodologies that can apply to various topics such as sustainability, innovation, tourism, costs, exports, systems administration, among others. The book's main contribution is the applicability of the various methodologies to specific cases, which allows generating a relationship between theory and practice. In addition, it has some bibliometric studies on various topics that give us a visualization of what has happened and where multiple topics are headed. This book is recommended mainly for students who wish to know how the various fuzzy and soft computing tools can be taken to real situations, allowing a better understanding of these and generating new visions of future applicability.

Book excerpt: This book collects the final versions of the highest quality papers presented at the conference 11th European Symposium on Computational Intelligence and Mathematics held on October 2–5, 2019, in Toledo (Spain). The conjugation of computational sciences with different mathematical tools is essential in order to solve different challenges that arise in a wide-ranging knowledge areas. Nowadays, many promising research lines are being developed in this direction from the theoretical and applicational perspectives. In this publication, computational intelligence and mathematics are combined in interesting research works that aim to give answers to complex real problems. Moreover, the technical program of this conference included four excellent keynote speeches, given by Prof. José Luis Verdegay (Guidelines to solve Decision Making Problems), Prof. Joao Paulo Carvalho (Recommender Systems: Using Fuzzy Fingerprints for ``Proper'' Recommendations), Dr. Andreja Tepavcevic (Special lattice valued structures and approximate solutions of linear equations), and Prof. Juan Moreno-Garcia (Generating linguistic descriptions using Linguistic Petri Nets).

Different theories are presented to deal with such situations. Amongst them, fuzzy set theory and its extensions produced remarkable results. Smarandache extended the theory to a new horizon with the neutrosophic set (NS), which was further extended to interval neutrosophic set (INS).

Book excerpt: Symmetry is an international journal in the research fields of physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics, computer science, theory and methods, and other scientific disciplines and engineering. The first paper was published in 2009. Here, we make a bibliometric analysis of publications in Symmetry from 2009 to 2019. According to Web of Science (WoS), we obtained 3215 publications in this journal. First, we explore the publications, citation number, and citation structure based on bibliometric indicators. Second, we analyze the most influential objects, including countries/regions, institutions, authors, and papers. Cooperation networks are also presented. Next, the co-citation and burst detection analyses are conducted according to the techniques of visualization tools, i.e., VOSviewer and CiteSpace. Furthermore, the co-occurrence analyses and timeline view analyses of keywords are investigated, aiming to explore the research hotspots. Finally, this paper provides relatively thorough perspectives and reviews and discloses the future development trend of this journal and challenges for scholars, which will promote the development of the journal and in-depth research of scholars.

Book excerpt: Multiple-criteria decision-making (MCDM) problems are the imperative part of modern decision theory where a set of alternatives has to be assessed against the multiple influential attributes before the best alternative is selected. In a decision-making(DM) process, an important problem is how to express the preference value. Due to the increasing complexity of the socioeconomic environment and the lack of knowledge or the data about the DM problems, it is difficult for the decision maker to give the exact decision as there is always an imprecise, vague or uncertain information.

Fields that benefit from this application range from biosignal analysis to econophysics and engineering. This issue is a collection of papers touching on different aspects of entropy measures in data analysis, as well as theoretical and computational analyses. The relevant topics include the difficulty to achieve adequate application of entropy measures and the acceptable parameter choices for those entropy measures, entropy-based coupling, and similarity analysis, along with the utilization of entropy measures as features in automatic learning and classification. Various real data applications are given.
