This book is written for professionals having expertise with domain and geospatial (GIS/RS/GPS) knowledge and wish to shift from an employee skillset to a consulting mindset. The shift in the consulting mindset can create a different approach to working, can translate into success, and can provide value to the company as well as to clients. This book can be useful for: • GIS experts who are spending their time and effort in data creation and wants to shift to problem-solving as an internal or external consultant to increase revenue for the company and value for the client. • GIS & remote sensing professionals who are debating about leaving the corporate life and want to explore an alternative lifestyle. • Professionals with GIS skillset who want to establish their own consulting business and increase their market share. • GIS experts who want to begin an independent lifestyle. The book is written with examples around individuals from the industry of Agriculture and GIS. The author has used two key elements in this book, the first one is RULES, as “Recognize”, “Uncover”, “Learn”, “Engage”, “Secure” and the second element is the number "9" that depicts the points in each chapter. The book is not restricted to professionals from the geopatial sector. It can be used by any professional who has an interest in consulting.

Book Synopsis Future U.S. Workforce for Geospatial Intelligence by : National Research Council
Download or read book Future U.S. Workforce for Geospatial Intelligence written by National Research Council and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 2013-04-28 with total page 185 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We live in a changing world with multiple and evolving threats to national security, including terrorism, asymmetrical warfare (conflicts between agents with different military powers or tactics), and social unrest. Visually depicting and assessing these threats using imagery and other geographically-referenced information is the mission of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA). As the nature of the threat evolves, so do the tools, knowledge, and skills needed to respond. The challenge for NGA is to maintain a workforce that can deal with evolving threats to national security, ongoing scientific and technological advances, and changing skills and expectations of workers. Future U.S. Workforce for Geospatial Intelligence assesses the supply of expertise in 10 geospatial intelligence (GEOINT) fields, including 5 traditional areas (geodesy and geophysics, photogrammetry, remote sensing, cartographic science, and geographic information systems and geospatial analysis) and 5 emerging areas that could improve geospatial intelligence (GEOINT fusion, crowdsourcing, human geography, visual analytics, and forecasting). The report also identifies gaps in expertise relative to NGA's needs and suggests ways to ensure an adequate supply of geospatial intelligence expertise over the next 20 years.

This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 477 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the past half century, we have experienced two major waves of methodological development in the study of human behavior in space and time. The fIrst wave was the well known "quantitative revolution" which propelled geography from a mainly descriptive discipline to a scientifIc discipline using formalism such as probability, statistics, and a large-number of mathematical methods for analyzing spatial structures and processes under certainty and uncertainty. The second wave is the recent advancement of geographical information systems which equips geographers with automation in the storage, retrieval, analysis, and display of data. Both developments have significant impacts on geographical studies in general and solutions to real life spatio-temporal problems in particular. They have found applications in urban and regional planning, automated mapping and facilities management, transportation planning and management, as well as environmental planning and management, to name but a few examples. Both developments have one thing in common. They one way or the other use computer to process and analyze data. However, not until recently, there has been very little interaction between the two. Quantitative models have largely been developed independent of the underlying data models and structures representing the spatial phenomena or processes under study. Display of analysis results has been primitive in terms of the utilization of computer graphic technologies. Formal models, in addition to their technical difficulties, have poor capability in communication with users. Geographical information systems, on the other hand, have originally been developed with a slight intention to entertain powerful analytical models.

Book Synopsis Geospatial Aspects of Managing the Development of Complex Systems by : Eugene Istomin
Download or read book Geospatial Aspects of Managing the Development of Complex Systems written by Eugene Istomin and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-06-10 with total page 418 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The monograph presents the results of the development of the theoretical foundations of geoinformation management of the development of distributed organizational and technical systems and territories. The objectives of the research identified the main tasks to be solved: 1) conceptual analysis of the processes of geoinformation management of the development of spatially distributed natural and technical systems. 2) methodological foundations for managing the development of natural and technical systems. 3) methodological apparatus for providing geoinformation management for the development of natural and technical systems. 4) geoinformation systems for managing the development of natural and technical systems. 5) methods and models of decision-making risk management in managing the development of natural and technical systems. The results obtained allow, at subsequent stages of research, to develop decision-making methods based on geoinformation for real control systems of various levels and purposes, practical recommendations for improving geoinformation risk management for the development of territories and organizational and technical systems, as well as methods for measuring the parameters of distributed systems, territories and water areas.
