Book Synopsis Wind Engineering 1983 3C by : J.D. Holmes
Download or read book Wind Engineering 1983 3C written by J.D. Holmes and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 432 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Wind Engineering 1983, Part C contains the proceedings of the Sixth International Conference on Wind Engineering, held in Gold Coast, Australia, on March 21-25, 1983 and in Auckland, New Zealand, on April 6-7, 1983 under the auspices of the International Association for Wind Engineering. The conference provided a forum for discussing topics related to wind energy and wind engineering, from internal pressures and wind-induced heat losses to wind characteristics, wind power systems, and the dispersion of gaseous pollutants. Comprised of 29 chapters, this volume begins with a detailed treatment of theory and experiment regarding the response characteristics of air pressure inside double-glazed windows. The effects of surrounding buildings on wind pressure distributions and ventilative heat losses for a single-family house are then examined, along with the nonlinearity of pressure differentials induced by wind and mechanical ventilation. Subsequent sections focus on topographic modeling of the dispersion of gaseous pollutants; the effect of wind environment on shelter; the effect of wind characteristics on structures; wind flow over hills and ridges; and wind power systems. This monograph will be of interest to students, practitioners, and researchers concerned with wind energy and wind engineering.

Book Synopsis Computational Wind Engineering 1 by : S. Murakami
Download or read book Computational Wind Engineering 1 written by S. Murakami and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2014-06-28 with total page 925 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The aim of this volume is to explore the challenges posed by the rapid development of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) within the field of engineering. CFD is already essential to research concerned with fluid flow in civil engineering, and its further potential for application in wind engineering is highly promising. State-of-the-art papers from all over the world are contained here, illuminating the present parameters of the field, as well as suggesting fruitful areas for further research. Eleven papers have been contributed by invited speakers outstanding in the fields of CFD and wind engineering. This volume will serve as a vehicle to promote further development in computational wind engineering.
Book Synopsis Wind Tunnels and Experimental Fluid Dynamics Research by : Jorge Colman Lerner
Download or read book Wind Tunnels and Experimental Fluid Dynamics Research written by Jorge Colman Lerner and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2011-07-27 with total page 728 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book "Wind Tunnels and Experimental Fluid Dynamics Research" is comprised of 33 chapters divided in five sections. The first 12 chapters discuss wind tunnel facilities and experiments in incompressible flow, while the next seven chapters deal with building dynamics, flow control and fluid mechanics. Third section of the book is dedicated to chapters discussing aerodynamic field measurements and real full scale analysis (chapters 20-22). Chapters in the last two sections deal with turbulent structure analysis (chapters 23-25) and wind tunnels in compressible flow (chapters 26-33). Contributions from a large number of international experts make this publication a highly valuable resource in wind tunnels and fluid dynamics field of research.
Book Synopsis Navier-Stokes Simulation of Wind-Tunnel Flow Using Lu-Adi Factorization Algorithm by : National Aeronautics and Space Adm Nasa

This book was released on 2018-10-23 with total page 30 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The three dimensional Navier-Stokes solution code using the LU-ADI factorization algorithm was employed to simulate the workshop test cases of transonic flow past a wing model in a wind tunnel and in free air. The effect of the tunnel walls is well demonstrated by the present simulations. An Amdahl 1200 supercomputer having 128 Mbytes main memory was used for these computations. Book Synopsis Flow and Transport in the Natural Environment: Advances and Applications by : William L. Steffen
Download or read book Flow and Transport in the Natural Environment: Advances and Applications written by William L. Steffen and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 497 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume arises from an International Symposium on Flow and Transport in the Natural Environment held in Canberra, Australia, in September 1987. The meeting was hosted by the CSIRO Division of Environmental Mechanics (now the Centre for Environmental Mechanics) to mark the opening of the second stage of its headquarters, the F.C. Pye Field Environment Laboratory, twenty-one years after the opening of the first stage. Those twenty-one years have seen much progress in our understanding of the physics of the natural environment and the occasion provided an ideal opportunity to review advances in our knowledge of flow and transport phenomena, particularly with regard to flow and transport in soils, plants and the atmosphere. The contents of this volume are based very closely on the Symposium's program. Undoubtedly, our choices of topics were idiosyncratic, but we believe that those we have selected exhibit progress, innovation, and much scope for practical application. Rather than being encyclopaedic, we have sought to deal with thirteen selected topics in depth.
