Book Synopsis Nordic Co-operation Programme on Energy Policy 2022–2024 by : Nordic Council of Ministers Secretariat
Download or read book Nordic Co-operation Programme on Energy Policy 2022–2024 written by Nordic Council of Ministers Secretariat and published by Nordic Council of Ministers. This book was released on 2021-12-13 with total page 31 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Available online: https://pub.norden.org/politiknord2021-731/ The Nordic energy ministers present a new Nordic energy policy co-operation programme for the period 2022–2024. The Nordic Region wants to be the most sustainable and integrated region in the world by 2030, and that is also the overall vision for co-operation on energy. A green transition of the Nordic societies will not be possible without a substantial green energy transition. As the Nordic energy systems are closely linked, working together on joint initiatives will lead to a green transition that is more cost-effective and socially sustainable than if the countries were each to achieve the goals individually. In 2020, the Nordic Council of Ministers for Energy Policy (MR-E) adopted seven focus areas as input into the action plan for Our Vision 2030. These will structure Nordic energy co-operation during the period covered by the programme and be at the heart of all of the work: - The green transition of the energy sector - Closer collaboration on research to aid the green transition - Nordic co-operation in the electricity market - Energy efficiency, technology and behavioural change - Working together on EU/EEA-related energy questions - Social acceptance of new energy plants and the green transition - The green transition of the transport sector.
Book Synopsis The Pig Book by : Citizens Against Government Waste
Download or read book The Pig Book written by Citizens Against Government Waste and published by St. Martin's Griffin. This book was released on 2013-09-17 with total page 212 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The federal government wastes your tax dollars worse than a drunken sailor on shore leave. The 1984 Grace Commission uncovered that the Department of Defense spent $640 for a toilet seat and $436 for a hammer. Twenty years later things weren't much better. In 2004, Congress spent a record-breaking $22.9 billion dollars of your money on 10,656 of their pork-barrel projects. The war on terror has a lot to do with the record $413 billion in deficit spending, but it's also the result of pork over the last 18 years the likes of: - $50 million for an indoor rain forest in Iowa - $102 million to study screwworms which were long ago eradicated from American soil - $273,000 to combat goth culture in Missouri - $2.2 million to renovate the North Pole (Lucky for Santa!) - $50,000 for a tattoo removal program in California - $1 million for ornamental fish research Funny in some instances and jaw-droppingly stupid and wasteful in others, The Pig Book proves one thing about Capitol Hill: pork is king!

Book Synopsis Strategy for International Branding of the Nordic Region 2022–2024 by : Nordic Council of Ministers Secretariat
Download or read book Strategy for International Branding of the Nordic Region 2022–2024 written by Nordic Council of Ministers Secretariat and published by Nordic Council of Ministers. This book was released on 2022-12-01 with total page 20 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Available from: https://pub.norden.org/politiknord2022-729/ With this revised strategy for branding of the Nordic region, the ship that was set to sail in the slipstream of the successful cultural initiative in Washington’s Kennedy Center in 2013 has found it’s right course and is continuously gaining pace. As with any long voyages you need a clear goal in the horizon, while also being aware that you’ll never move in a straight line. Detours are necessary and obstacles are hard to avoid along the way. The same thing goes when it comes to branding. Trial and error is part of the process that moves the project forward – for instance, who would have thought that the whole world would more or less shut down due to a pandemic? Also, a new vision declaration for the Nordic Co-operation has seen the day of light: The Nordic region will become the most sustainable and integrated region in the world by 2030. This third version of the Strategy for International Branding of the Nordic Region will contribute to achieve this vision, by focusing the branding efforts on and sharing Nordic know-how and contributions to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

This book was released on 2022-05-10 with total page 91 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Grenada’s economy was hit hard by the pandemic, with a decline in real output of 14 percent in 2020 from both a collapse of tourism-related activities and the suspension of in-person classes at Saint George’s University (SGU). Growth in 2021 is estimated to have partly recovered to 5.6 percent, driven by construction and agriculture. The authorities’ policy response helped mitigate the pandemic’s impact through containment measures, increased health and social spending, and an expanded public investment program (including to build resilience to natural disasters). Central government debt rose to 70 percent of GDP in 2021 (from 59 percent in 2019) and the external position has worsened. The financial sector has so far weathered the crisis well.

Book excerpt: Jayne Erixour believes she knows everything about the universe. As a bounty hunter and assassin, she’s seen the worst dregs of humanity and every sentient species ever spat out of a hell realm. To her, there is no truth outside of her blaster’s recoil and her resolve to let no one get too close. Hadrian Scalera is on the run from the same brutal assassins who slaughtered every member of his family, both birth and foster. He has no refuge and no one he dares to call friend, as it will mean the end of them. He expects no mercy from anyone, until the day one assassin hesitates to pull the trigger. An assassin’s code is simple: Kill or be killed. No prey, no pay. Every life has a price. If Jayne doesn’t fulfill her contract and kill Hadrian, she’ll be the next target on the League’s menu. But as old enemies return to hunt them both, they quickly learn that neither will survive unless they can learn to trust each other. Yet things are never so simple and survival means only one of them can be left standing . . .
Book Synopsis Spain: 2021 Article IV Consultation-Press Release; Staff Report; and Statement by the Executive Director for Spain by : International Monetary
Download or read book Spain: 2021 Article IV Consultation-Press Release; Staff Report; and Statement by the Executive Director for Spain written by International Monetary and published by International Monetary Fund. This book was released on 2022-02-16 with total page 88 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Spanish economy is recovering from the deep recession caused by the COVID pandemic and employment is already above its pre-pandemic level. A highly successful vaccination campaign helped limit the impact of the recent wave of infections on hospitalizations and economic activity. Output is expected to return to its pre-pandemic level by the end of 2022. However, there is significant uncertainty around the recovery path related to the evolution of the pandemic and the duration of global supply bottlenecks. The pace of absorption and the effectiveness of use of Next Generation EU (NGEU) funds will also affect growth in the coming years. In the near term, the key policy challenge is to continue to provide targeted pandemic support while facilitating resource reallocation and a transformation to a greener and more inclusive economy.

Book Synopsis Costa Rica by : International Monetary Fund. Western Hemisphere Dept.
Download or read book Costa Rica written by International Monetary Fund. Western Hemisphere Dept. and published by International Monetary Fund. This book was released on 2019-04-13 with total page 89 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This 2019 Article IV Consultation highlights that Costa Rican government recognizes the challenges and is planning a broad array of measures, although the political and social environment remains difficult. The Consultation focused on policies that would help restore fiscal sustainability, strengthen the inflation targeting framework, enhance resilience of the financial system, and boost potential and inclusive growth. The fiscal reform constitutes a critical step towards restoring fiscal sustainability, but full and timely implementation is key. Further frontloaded fiscal consolidation, based largely on revenue measures, should be implemented to further reduce debt and financing pressures, while taking measures to protect the poor. It is also recommended that monetary policy should continue to remain data dependent and balance downside risks to inflation stemming from slower activity and upside risks to inflation arising from tighter global financial conditions. Structural reforms, including those planned under the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development accession process should be implemented to improve competitiveness and foster inclusive growth.

Book Synopsis The Kingdom of the Netherlands—Netherlands by : International Monetary Fund. European Dept.
Download or read book The Kingdom of the Netherlands—Netherlands written by International Monetary Fund. European Dept. and published by International Monetary Fund. This book was released on 2019-02-12 with total page 52 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Article IV Consultation highlights that the Dutch economy has grown faster than the euro area average over the past few years reflecting recovering consumption and investment, and strong net exports. Progress with tackling long-standing imbalances in the households and corporate sectors, and thus external imbalances, has lagged. Households remain highly leveraged and their consumption constrained by a stagnating disposable income. In the corporate sector, dominated by large multinational corporations, investment is low but savings are high, and developments are diverging with domestic small and medium enterprises relatively stagnant. Strong fiscal performance in recent years has boosted buffers that can now be used to reduce distortions and strengthen potential growth. The report recommends that it is important to harmonize tax benefits and social security contributions for different types of employment to reduce labor market duality while increasing overall labor market flexibility. Using fiscal space to address household and corporate imbalances is desirable and is unlikely to jeopardize long-term fiscal sustainability.

This book was released on 2023-10-10 with total page 182 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The latest World Economic Outlook reports signs that policy tightening is starting to cool activity despite core inflation proving persistent. Risks are more balanced as banking sector stress has receded, but they remain tilted to the downside. Monetary policy should stay the course to bring inflation to target, while fiscal consolidation is needed to tackle soaring debts. Structural reforms are crucial to revive medium-term growth prospects amid constrained policy space.
