Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume of Advances in Intelligent and Soft Computing contains accepted papers presented at the 8th International Conference on Computational Intelligence in Security for Information Systems (CISIS 2015) and the 6th International Conference on European Transnational Education (ICEUTE 2015). These conferences were held in the beautiful and historic city of Burgos (Spain), in June 2015. The aim of the 8th CISIS conference is to offer a meeting opportunity for academic and industry-related researchers belonging to the various, vast communities of Computational Intelligence, Information Security, and Data Mining. The need for intelligent, flexible behaviour by large, complex systems, especially in mission-critical domains, is intended to be the catalyst and the aggregation stimulus for the overall event. After a through peer-review process, the CISIS 2015 International Program Committee selected 43 papers, written by authors from 16 different countries. In the case of 6th ICEUTE conference, the International Program Committee selected 12 papers (from 7 countries). These papers are published in present conference proceedings, achieving an acceptance rate of about 39%. The selection of papers was extremely rigorous in order to maintain the high quality of the conference and we would like to thank the members of the Program Committees for their hard work in the reviewing process. This is a crucial process to the creation of a high standard conference and the CISIS and ICEUTE conferences would not exist without their help.

Book Synopsis Advances in Non-Invasive Biomedical Signal Sensing and Processing with Machine Learning by : Saeed Mian Qaisar
Download or read book Advances in Non-Invasive Biomedical Signal Sensing and Processing with Machine Learning written by Saeed Mian Qaisar and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-03-01 with total page 385 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents the modern technological advancements and revolutions in the biomedical sector. Progress in the contemporary sensing, Internet of Things (IoT) and machine learning algorithms and architectures have introduced new approaches in the mobile healthcare. A continuous observation of patients with critical health situation is required. It allows monitoring of their health status during daily life activities such as during sports, walking and sleeping. It is realizable by intelligently hybridizing the modern IoT framework, wireless biomedical implants and cloud computing. Such solutions are currently under development and in testing phases by healthcare and governmental institutions, research laboratories and biomedical companies. The biomedical signals such as electrocardiogram (ECG), electroencephalogram (EEG), Electromyography (EMG), phonocardiogram (PCG), Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary (COP), Electrooculography (EoG), photoplethysmography (PPG), and image modalities such as positron emission tomography (PET), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computerized tomography (CT) are non-invasively acquired, measured, and processed via the biomedical sensors and gadgets. These signals and images represent the activities and conditions of human cardiovascular, neural, vision and cerebral systems. Multi-channel sensing of these signals and images with an appropriate granularity is required for an effective monitoring and diagnosis. It renders a big volume of data and its analysis is not feasible manually. Therefore, automated healthcare systems are in the process of evolution. These systems are mainly based on biomedical signal and image acquisition and sensing, preconditioning, features extraction and classification stages. The contemporary biomedical signal sensing, preconditioning, features extraction and intelligent machine and deep learning-based classification algorithms are described. Each chapter starts with the importance, problem statement and motivation. A self-sufficient description is provided. Therefore, each chapter can be read independently. To the best of the editors’ knowledge, this book is a comprehensive compilation on advances in non-invasive biomedical signal sensing and processing with machine and deep learning. We believe that theories, algorithms, realizations, applications, approaches, and challenges, which are presented in this book will have their impact and contribution in the design and development of modern and effective healthcare systems.

Book Synopsis Machine Behavior Design And Analysis by : Yinyan Zhang
Download or read book Machine Behavior Design And Analysis written by Yinyan Zhang and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-03-13 with total page 193 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this book, we present our systematic investigations into consensus in multi-agent systems. We show the design and analysis of various types of consensus protocols from a multi-agent perspective with a focus on min-consensus and its variants. We also discuss second-order and high-order min-consensus. A very interesting topic regarding the link between consensus and path planning is also included. We show that a biased min-consensus protocol can lead to the path planning phenomenon, which means that the complexity of shortest path planning can emerge from a perturbed version of min-consensus protocol, which as a case study may encourage researchers in the field of distributed control to rethink the nature of complexity and the distance between control and intelligence. We also illustrate the design and analysis of consensus protocols for nonlinear multi-agent systems derived from an optimal control formulation, which do not require solving a Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman (HJB) equation. The book was written in a self-contained format. For each consensus protocol, the performance is verified through simulative examples and analyzed via mathematical derivations, using tools like graph theory and modern control theory. The book’s goal is to provide not only theoretical contributions but also explore underlying intuitions from a methodological perspective.

Book Synopsis Data Preprocessing, Active Learning, and Cost Perceptive Approaches for Resolving Data Imbalance by : Rana, Dipti P.
Download or read book Data Preprocessing, Active Learning, and Cost Perceptive Approaches for Resolving Data Imbalance written by Rana, Dipti P. and published by IGI Global. This book was released on 2021-06-04 with total page 309 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over the last two decades, researchers are looking at imbalanced data learning as a prominent research area. Many critical real-world application areas like finance, health, network, news, online advertisement, social network media, and weather have imbalanced data, which emphasizes the research necessity for real-time implications of precise fraud/defaulter detection, rare disease/reaction prediction, network intrusion detection, fake news detection, fraud advertisement detection, cyber bullying identification, disaster events prediction, and more. Machine learning algorithms are based on the heuristic of equally-distributed balanced data and provide the biased result towards the majority data class, which is not acceptable considering imbalanced data is omnipresent in real-life scenarios and is forcing us to learn from imbalanced data for foolproof application design. Imbalanced data is multifaceted and demands a new perception using the novelty at sampling approach of data preprocessing, an active learning approach, and a cost perceptive approach to resolve data imbalance. Data Preprocessing, Active Learning, and Cost Perceptive Approaches for Resolving Data Imbalance offers new aspects for imbalanced data learning by providing the advancements of the traditional methods, with respect to big data, through case studies and research from experts in academia, engineering, and industry. The chapters provide theoretical frameworks and the latest empirical research findings that help to improve the understanding of the impact of imbalanced data and its resolving techniques based on data preprocessing, active learning, and cost perceptive approaches. This book is ideal for data scientists, data analysts, engineers, practitioners, researchers, academicians, and students looking for more information on imbalanced data characteristics and solutions using varied approaches.
