Book Synopsis Serenata and Festa Teatrale in 18th Century Europe by : Iskrena Yordanova
Download or read book Serenata and Festa Teatrale in 18th Century Europe written by Iskrena Yordanova and published by Hollitzer Wissenschaftsverlag. This book was released on 2018-06-25 with total page 679 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume is dedicated to "Serenata and Festa Teatrale in 18th Century Europe", especially to the production of this music-dramatic genre at the courts on the Iberian Peninsula, in Italy, and the Holy Roman Empire where it was an integral part of court ceremonials and a privileged ritual of repraesentatio maiestatis. The 16 studies on patrons and artists, exceptional events and local traditions, reveal highly interesting material for the research on these up to now largely neglected genre. Any approach to these works full of metaphors, symbols and allusions has to take into account the context of the celebration and the resulting multiplicity of aspects: choice of themes, dramaturgical forms, textual and musical structures, vocal and instrumental ensembles, and the various options regarding the stage apparatus. "Serenata and Festa Teatrale in 18th Century Europe", edited by Iskrena Yordanova (Lisbon) and Paologiovanni Maione (Naples), inaugurates the series "Cadernos de Queluz", a subseries of "Specula Spectacula" by Don Juan Archiv Wien.
Book Synopsis Legal Scholarship and Doctrines of Private Law, 13th-18th centuries by : Robert Feenstra
Download or read book Legal Scholarship and Doctrines of Private Law, 13th-18th centuries written by Robert Feenstra and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2024-10-28 with total page 333 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The emphasis in this present volume of Professor Feenstra’s studies lies on the post-medieval development of legal scholarship. The opening two studies are concerned with the University of Orléans in the 13th-14th centuries, but from there the centre of interest shifts to the early modern Netherlands. Two important themes are the teaching of law, especially at the legal faculties of Leyden and Franeker, and the doctrines of private law (especially property, contract, and succession). The figure of Hugo Grotius, his sources and his influence, dominate these articles.

Download or read book Brain and Art written by Bruno Colombo and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2019-08-29 with total page 182 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book analyzes and discusses in detail art therapy, a specific tool used to sustain health in affective developments, rehabilitation, motor skills and cognitive functions. Art therapy is based on the assumption that the process of making art (music, dance, painting) sparks emotions and enhances brain activity. Art therapy is used to encourage personal growth, facilitate particular brain areas or activity patterns, and improve neural connectivity. Treating neurological diseases using artistic strategies offers us a unique option for engaging brain structural networks that enhance the brain’s ability to form new connections. Based on brain plasticity, art therapy has the potential to increase our repertoire for treating neurological diseases. Neural substrates are the basis of complex emotions relative to art experiences, and involve a widespread activation of cognitive and motor systems. Accordingly, art therapy has the capacity to modulate behavior, cognition, attention and movement. In this context, art therapy can offer effective tools for improving general well-being, quality of life and motivation in connection with neurological diseases. The book discusses art therapy as a potential group of techniques for the treatment of neurological disturbances and approaches the relationship between humanistic disciplines and neurology from a holistic perspective, reflecting the growing interest in this interconnection.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book, the first of this scope to have been published, traces the diplomatic, cultural and commercial links between Constantinople and Venice from the foundation of the Venetian republic to the fall of the Byzantine Empire. It aims to show how, especially after the Fourth Crusade in 1204, the Venetians came to dominate first the Genoese and thereafter the whole Byzantine economy. At the same time the author points to those important cultural and, above all, political reasons why the relationship between the two states was always inherently unstable.
Book Synopsis The Making of Christian Moravia (858-882) by : Maddalena Betti
Download or read book The Making of Christian Moravia (858-882) written by Maddalena Betti and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2013-10-24 with total page 265 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In The Making of Christian Moravia Maddalena Betti examines the creation of the Moravian archdiocese, of which St Methodius was the first incumbent, in the context of ninth-century papal policy in central and south-eastern Europe. In the nineteenth and twentieth century religious and nationalistic concerns widely influenced the reconstruction of the history of the archdiocese of Methodius. Offering a new reading of already widely-used sources, both Slavonic and Latin, Maddalena Betti turns attention upon the jurisdictional conflict between Rome, the Bavarian churches and Byzantium, in order to uncover the strategies and the languages adopted by the Apostolic See to gain jurisdiction over the new territories in central and south-eastern Europe.
