Book excerpt: 10,000 Reasons reveals the stories beyond the well-known church anthem, fusing global worship leader Matt Redman’s own encounters of God with those from believers throughout the ages. In just four years, "10,000 Reasons" has become one of the church’s most popular modern worship anthems in times of triumph as well as trial. In this book, global worship leader Matt Redman connects the dots between singing the song and living the life. In addition to sharing details behind the song’s creation, this book takes readers beyond the song. Matt explores the influences and experiences that have taught him how to trust God in all situations—from his own personal trials to stories of hymn writers like John Wesley as well from current and ancient heroes of our faith.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When do you praise God? When He has done something grand? How about when He's done something you don't understand or agree with? Are you praising God for being a Giver and a Taker? It is important to recognize God's attributes that please us, as well as the ones that don't, then offer up praise to Him for all things and in all circumstances. Often, praise is completely left out of our prayers to God. If we follow the example Jesus gave in Matthew 6:9-13, then praise should come first, yet finding the words to do this can be challenging. This book contains over five hundred praise words to help facilitate a more intimate knowledge of God, broadening our ability to praise Him specifically for His attributes. This book is a powerful transforming tool to be used in a daily walk with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Choose a word, then offer up a first fruit sacrifice of praise to God. If it is heartfelt and sincere, God will be pleased. You will be blessed because of the intimacy this creates. When we are praising, we are not controlling, we are releasing. Praise prayer is different because it removes the tendency to give orders to God that sounds something like, "please fix this," "change that," "don't do this," "give me that." Sometimes a defeated tone is present in our prayers, sounding like, "God, this is what I want, but your will be done, which is probably not my will, so I'm not sure how to pray." Praising God first can take away the need to control and the feeling of defeat by releasing it to God, focusing entirely on Him and His sovereignty in all circumstances. Praise God first. That's what we can do. God has got the rest. Through Him then, let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that give thanks to His name. (Heb. 13:15)

Book excerpt: More than 1.5 million copies sold! What if you discovered that the life you already have is the life you’ve always wanted? What if joy is possible right where you are? New York Times bestselling author Ann Voskamp invites you to embrace everyday blessings and embark on the transformative journey of chronicling God's gifts. How can you find joy in the midst of deadlines, debt, drama, and even the death of loved ones? What does the Christ-life really look like when your days are gritty, long, and sometimes even dark? How is God even here? “It is in the dark that God is passing by . . . our lives shake not because God has abandoned but the exact opposite. God is passing by. God is in the tremors. Dark is the holiest ground, the glory passing by. In the blackest, God is closest, at work, forging His perfect and right will. Though it is black and we can’t see and our world seems to be free-falling and we feel utterly alone, Christ is most present to us...” In One Thousand Gifts, Ann Voskamp invites you to discover a way of seeing that opens your eyes to ordinary amazing grace, a way of living that is fully alive, and a way of becoming present to God that brings deep and lasting joy. It's only in the expression of gratitude for the life we already have, we discover the life we've always wanted . . . a life we can take, give thanks for, and break for others. Come to feel and know the impossible right down in your bones: you are wildly loved by God. As Ann invites you into her own beautiful, heart-aching moments of amazing grace, she gently teaches you how to: Biblically lament loss and turn pain into poetry Intentionally embrace a lifestyle of radical gratitude Slow down and catch God in the moment Not a book merely to read, One Thousand Gifts is an invitation to engage with truths that will serve up the depths of God’s joy and transform your life forever. Leave pride, fear, and control behind, and abandon yourself to the God who overflows your cup.

Book excerpt: Profound reflections on the cross that help you to meditate on and marvel at the sacrificial love of Jesus. This book can be used as a devotional, especially during Lent and Easter. These profound reflections on the cross from David Mathis, author of The Christmas We Didn’t Expect, will help you to meditate on and marvel at Jesus’ life, sacrificial death, and spectacular resurrection-enabling you to treasure anew who Jesus is and what he has done. Many of us are so familiar with the Easter story that it becomes easy to miss subtle details and difficult to really enjoy its meaning. This book will help you to pause and marvel at Jesus, whose now-glorified wounds are a sign of his unfailing love and the decisive victory that he has won: “He was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.” (Isaiah 53:5) This book can be used as a devotional. The chapters on Holy Week make it especially helpful during the Lent season and at Easter.

Book excerpt: Can two people brought together by desperate circumstances help one another heal, and maybe even begin a new life? New York Times bestselling author Charles Martin’s Send Down the Rain answers the questions of what it means—and what level of sacrifice it takes—to truly love someone. Allie is still recovering from the loss of her family’s beloved waterfront restaurant on Florida’s Gulf Coast when she loses her second husband to a terrifying highway accident. Devastated and losing hope, she shudders to contemplate the future—until a cherished person from her past returns. Joseph has been adrift for many years, wounded in both body and spirit and unable to come to terms with the trauma of his Vietnam War experiences. Just as he resolves to abandon his search for peace and live alone in a remote cabin in the Carolina mountains, he discovers a mother and her two small children lost in the forest. A man of character and strength, he instinctively steps in to help them get back to their home in Florida. There he will return to his own hometown—and witness the accident that launches a bittersweet reunion with his childhood sweetheart, Allie. When Joseph offers to help Allie rebuild her restaurant, it seems the flame may reignite—until a forty-five-year-old secret begins to emerge, threatening to destroy all hope for their second chance at love. Send Down the Rain will take you on a journey that spans the sweltering migrant worker routes of south Florida, muddy battlefields of Vietnam, thickets of northwest North Carolina, and the idyllic shores of America’s most beautiful beach (Cape San Blas). At the story’s center lies the question: What does it mean—and what level of sacrifice does it take—to truly love someone? Praise for Send Down the Rain: “Charles Martin understands the power of story and he uses it to alter the souls and lives of both his characters and his readers.”—Patti Callahan Henry, New York Times bestselling author Full-length, stand-alone novel Includes discussion questions for book clubs Also by bestselling author Charles Martin: The Mountain Between Us, Chasing Fireflies, When Crickets Cry, and The Letter Keeper
